Jungle Festival Returning to Disneyland Paris 20th June to 13th September 2020

Disneyland Paris has announced the return of the spectacular Lion King & Jungle Book Festival this summer. Having been lucky enough to have visited during the festival in 2019 I can say that, outside of Halloween and Christmas, this is by far my favourite event on the current Disney calendar.
The highlights include The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands stage show and ‘King of the Swingers’ parade/show at Central Plaza (at the end of Main Street before the castle). Also there are two particularly child friendly events on during this time: Timon’s Matadance and Djembe Joy Village. If you’re a Lion King or Jungle book fan this is also the best time of year to meet characters from the films.
King of the Swingers parade and show

So why is this my favourite event? The parade! This colourful, vibrant procession had me feeling like a kid again. The wonderfully detailed vehicles spewing smoke and giant animals wondering through the park are a spectacular sight to behold but where it really shine is the presentation when the parade reaches Central Plaza. With its Indian Jungle theme, the show includes live singing and performances from a host of Disney characters set to a Bhangra inspired soundtrack with live drummers! Best of all, at the end of the show, what I can only describe as coloured powder fireworks are released from the castle for a spectacular finale.

Rhythms of the pride lands stage show

Along side the parade you can also watch The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands stage show at the Chaparral Theatre in Frontierland. This is an amazing performance including singers, dancers and acrobats. I wont give much away here as I don’t want to spoil the show but if you would like more information you can visit the Disneyland Paris website to find out more.
Fun for the family
Amongst the other things going on during this time, there are two that caught my eye for those with younger children. Firstly, there is Timon’s Matadance where children can get involved in a small show and dance along with Timon and Pumbaa.

Secondly, Djembe Joy Village is an African inspired drum workshop where children (and adults; if you take a child with you) can learn to play the traditional African Djembe drum with the Djembe Academy.
